About obiWEBkenobi.com
ObiWebKenobi is a site designed to support students who are taking computer web design classes at Mt Hood Community College under the tutelage of Dr.Wayne Machuca.
As Internet capabilities in bandwidth and speed have increased, the abilities of web sites have expanded. It is the mission of this web site to explore the different capabilities of web software, programming techniques, animation, and dynamic interactivity. Here, web techniques may be provided for no other reason than to show that it can be done. And, here is a place where students will be able to post and demonstrate excellent techniques that can be shared with other web enthusiasts.
The Philosophy of obiWEBkenobi
The concept of this site is designed to represent the software and techniques taught at MHCC. Hence, if something is on this site, the technique to create it is taught in at least one of our many web classes.
For example, this site was created using Adobe® Dreamweaver and Microsoft® Expressions. Animations and games are created using Flash. Certain client side programming was accomplished using JavaScript. Other programming available may include XML, CGI/Perl, Adobe® Photoshop, Adobe® Fireworks, Axialis, Gimp, and more.
Additionally, this site makes available or links to excellent textual resources, links to free software downloads, and other things important to the serious student.
This site is designed to inform and not overwhelm, to inspire and not impress. Take what you can. Improve where you can. ObiWebKenobi is a community for learning. No matter who you are or what you believe, computers are a great equalizer -- they either work, or they don't.
